Program:
The task is to investigate urban dynamics in a transformation area with disused industrial fragments. Lying along the eastern shoreline of Stavanger, the study area is a natural extension of the city centre. The competition asks for mix uses in a flexible urban structure, which can be implemented in the ratified master plan for the area. Candidates should propose uses and design for built structures, as well as new public spaces connected to and including the shoreline. The aim is to supply the heterogeneous transformation area with an interesting urban logic and new projects of innovative quality. Competition proposals should integrate new users with existing sub-cultures and inhabitants in order to reinforce the cultural identity.
